We decided to try this catalogue we received in a package of fundraising material, called Winter Wonderland. Some of the parent council members were skeptical; some were hoping we would at least raise around $1000. Being new at this whole ‘fundraising thing’, I wasn’t sure how much work it would be to carry out this fundraiser, as it turns out the hardest part was trying to get the order form total to add up to the money total. Let me tell you, trying to count around $25,000 in loose change, cheques and bills isn’t fun! However, telling all those people on parent council that we sold about $25,000 of product, which earned the school just over $11,000, was very satisfying. They couldn't’t believe we made that much money for a relatively small amount of work.

This fundraiser paved the way for the two other campaigns’ I was part of. We held the Snow Days catalogue in Nov. ’06 at Central School, which put about $14,000 in our pockets after selling just over $31,000 in product. In spring ’07 I had the opportunity to introduce these phenomenal campaigns to another school in Brooks, Griffin Park. They seemed quite happy to try the Spring Collection catalogue, which put just over $8000 in their bank account after selling over $18,000 from that catalogue. I’m hoping Griffin Park will be receptive to the No Peeking campaign in the fall, which should bring in more money for that school.

After being involved in these three campaigns I can’t believe how easy it is to make so much money for the schools with such a minimal amount of work. To make things easier the companies we dealt with were extremely helpful to make these campaigns such a success. I definitely look forward to working with them again in the future.
